SyNERGY MED 2022 Presentation

In this presentation an efficient method for event detection and noise reduction of dynamic responses based on Wavelet Transform, aiming to improve this way the quality of data used for the derivation of load models. The accuracy of the proposed method is assessed using artificially created noisy responses. In the presented analysis, three different types of noise, namely Gaussian, Laplace, and Student’s t noise, are considered. Comparisons with other filtering techniques are conducted. The impact of all examined methods on the derivation of accurate load model parameters is quantified… Read More »SyNERGY MED 2022 Presentation

SyNERGY MED 2022 Presentation

Several mode identification methods have been proposed in the literature to estimate oscillatory modes contained in power grid ringdown responses. Prony, eigenvalue realization, matrix pencil and vector fitting are a few of them. In this presentation a systematic evaluation of their performance is conducted with special emphasis on the identification of closely spaced in frequency and poorly damped modes. Synthetic signals distorted by white Gaussian noise to replicate real-world measurement data have been used. The accuracy of the mode estimates is evaluated by using Monte… Read More »SyNERGY MED 2022 Presentation

SEST Presentation

In this presentation, a methodology for the assessment of the provision of voltage regulation and power smoothing services by PV-BES systems is described, taking into account the capacity degradation of BES. The proposed framework involves quasi-static simulations incorporating the operating conditions of the distribution network. A battery aging model is used to estimate the BES capacity loss caused by both the calendar and the cyclic aging mechanisms. The updated BES capacity sets new constraints on its operation and consequently influences… Read More »SEST Presentation
